Abdominoplasty After Pregnancies
This is a case of a 47- year old female who came in for a consultation regarding her abdomen. She desired a tummy tuck or abdominoplasty after completing her pregnancies. She was finished having children. Her issue was the excess skin of her abdomen after losing some weight. She also had a wide rectus abdominus muscle diastasis from those pregnancies.
She was taken to the operating room where she underwent a full abdominoplasty or tummy tuck. We relocated the umbilicus or belly button and plicated her rectus abdominus muscles in order to tighten them. Excess skin was cut away at the bottom the incision and her deep Scarpa’s fat was excised under direct vision in order to sculpt the abdomen and give it some definition. Her postoperative pain was minimal as she was given a preoperative TAP block which numbs the abdomen, making it more comfortable in the recovery room and when she went home.
The patient was very pleased with the results. Before and after photos are shown below. Notice the inward belly button which looks more pleasing and the sculpted abdomen when comparing her before and after photographs.
