Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
This is the case of a 53-year-old otherwise healthy female who came into the office seeking cosmetic correction of her upper eyelids. You can see that there is excessive skin and tissue in the upper eyelids overhanging especially laterally (i.e. on the outer aspect of the eyelid). Under local anesthesia the patient underwent bilateral eyelid blepharoplasty. We cut skin, a little muscle and trimmed the fat compartments associated with her upper eyelids. The procedure took less than an hour with the patient comfortable throughout the whole surgery. Patients who are more anxious can choose sedation or even general anesthesia if healthy. The patient was pleased with the result. The results show less bugling of her eyelids and a more tucked in look. They are not overdone either, giving her a natural appearance.
