What is it?
Body contouring is a surgical procedure to reshape areas of the body as desired. Individuals who have lost a significant amount of weight, left with sagging or loose skin around different areas of their body, or those who want to simply improve the overall appearance and shape of their body are ideal candidates for body contouring surgery. There are a variety of body sculpting techniques available to patients to achieve a more toned and sculpted figure. Common body contouring techniques include an arm lift, bicep implants, a body lift, butt implants, a butt lift, calf implants, liposuction, pec implants, a thigh lift, tummy tuck, and cellulite reduction. These, among others, are procedures aimed to improve the tone and shape of your body.
Body contouring is highly customizable according to the individual needs of each patient. A complete lower body lift, for example, consists of shaping sagging buttocks, the abdomen, waist, hips and outer thighs, all in one procedure. A breast lift will correct sagging or flattened breasts; an arm lift will correct sagging upper arms; and a thigh lift will correct sagging inner, mid and/pr outer thighs. Body contouring procedures are intensive surgical procedures and recovery could last anyway from days to weeks. Recovery at home is possible but you may be advised to avoid putting any strain on your body, including lifting, stretching or bending until your body is more fully recovered.
The procedure:
Step one – The initial consultation and physical exam to customize your procedure.
Step two – General anesthesia or intravenous sedation.
Step three – Depending on the location and amount of the loose skin, the incisions will vary. In
most cases, the incisions are extensive. Most incisions will be placed in strategic locations to
reduce the appearance of a scar.
Step four – Suture incisions closed. Closely follow at home recovery instructions to ensure
optimal results.
