This is the case of a 57-year-old female with a diagnosis of right breast cancer. She underwent a right total mastectomy with sentinel lymph node biopsy and a left prophylactic mastectomy. Each mastectomy was performed with a nipple and skin sparing approach using the hidden scar technique. The scar is placed at the inferior and outer aspect of the breast fold (a.k.a. the inframammary fold). A 2-stage breast reconstruction was performed with the first stage occurring right after the mastectomies were performed.
Bilateral tissue expanders were placed with Allodermā¢ support. Once both breast expanders were fully expanded, the second stage operation was performed whereby the tissue expanders were removed. In their place, bilateral smooth round high profile style SCF NatrelleĀ® highly cohesive silicone gel implants of 560cc were placed in each breast pocket. Due to the nipple and skin-sparing method along with the hidden scar, this operation in the end mimics that of a breast augmentation as seen by the before and after photos.
