What is a Neck Lift?
Neck lift surgery, also called a lower rhytidectomy, is one of the most popular cosmetic surgeries. The neck is one of the first areas that begins showing signs of aging on the body. Other than natural aging, sun damage and extreme weight loss may contribute to loose, sagging, and aged skin on the neck. While many measures are taken to preserve the youthful appearance of our face skin, neck skin often gets neglected. The skin on a person’s neck is equally susceptible to the affects of aging, sun damage and weight loss and equally important to tend to. Removing the excess skin and fat from the neck area will not only improve the appearance of neck skin, but also recontours the face and gives you an overall rejuvenated and youthful look. Aside from it being one of the most transformative procedures, it is also among the safest and most reliable plastic surfers that can be done with minimal scarring and incisions. Neck Lift surgery is an excellent option if you are someone who appears to have lost your skins natural elasticity, sags or if there is excess skin and fat tissue.
The Procedure:
Step One – General anesthesia or intravenous sedation.
Step Two – There are two main incisions, a traditional neck lift incision or a limited neck lift incision. During the procedure, the tissue under the neck skin may be redistributed and tightened. Then, the surgeon will reposition the skin and trim any excess skin. Traditional incision: Runs along the hairline, beginning at the sideburn area, and around the ear, ending at the lower scalp. Limited Incision: Incisions only around the ear.
Step Three – Suture incisions closed. Incision lines well disguised by the hairline.
Step Four – Rest and recover. A neck lift bandage may be applied to help reduce swelling.
